- Should I prepare before
taking the assessment?
Although not required, preparation before
taking Compass is recommended to ensure that test scores
accurately reflect your current skill levels. The online
Study Guide provides practice questions for the reading,
writing, and math sections. The GED or SAT review books,
available in the AVC Library, provide a basic review
of concepts in reading, grammar rules, and math, which
should assist you in preparation for the assessment.
The Learning Center and IMC (Instructional Multimedia
Center) also have many helpful resources, including
videotapes and self-instructional computer programs.
For resources on the web, you may want to conduct a
meta-search by entering “Compass Placement Practice
Test” as the search criteria. The key to preparation,
though, is realizing that the assessment is intended
to measure your current skill levels.
