the career planning process?
Step 1– Information
Gathering
Self-Assessment– identifying
your values, interests, abilities, personality, preferences,
and lifestyle. Some worthwhile instruments to consider
here are Discover, Myers-Briggs, & Internet sites.
Career Research & Exploration–
learn about careers and the world of work. Some valuable
tools to consider her are Eureka, Discover, & Internet
sites.
Step 2– Information Processing
Decision Making & Goal Setting– using self-assessment
results and career research information to begin to
determine career direction and options. Some helpful
instruments here are a Discover Interpretation Workshop
& a Counseling Appointment.
Step 3– Plan Development
Planning for the Future– once
a career and major have been selected, you will need
to choose a school that offers your major and develop
an educational plan (plan of action). An education plan
can be developed during a scheduled Counseling appointment.
