Antelope Valley College is fully accredited by the ACCJC/WASC. AVC underwent its last complete institutional self study in 2004. The self study was followed by a campus visit by accrediting commission representatives, which resulted in reaffirmation of accreditation. The next comprehensive evaluation of AVC is slated to be completed in fall 2010.

The Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACCJC/WASC) oversees the accreditation status for Antelope Valley College. ACCJC:
- Sets standards for good practice.
- Conducts peer-based evaluations of institutions.
- Confers accredited status on institutions
- Makes the results of accreditation review known to the public.
