Professional Development Courses: Mediation Skills Training
The primary focus of this 24-hour class is the mediation process itself. Here, participants will develop the necessary skills involved in convening and conducting actual mediations through role playing, observation and practice of skill sets such as active listening and asking neutral questions. This part of the series also provides more of the fundamentals of mediation began in the Intro course, including its historical origins and background and how the process and its derivatives compare with and may serve as adjuncts to, the traditional legal process. Some study will be devoted to other forms of ADR, behavioral aspects of conflict, and the continuum of problem solving/communication skills.
