Math, Science, & Engineering: Associate in Science – Transfer, Mathematics

The Mathematics Associate in Science for Transfer (AS-T) degree offers students a fundamental knowledge of mathematics and its relation to science, technology and engineering. Students will enhance their problem solving and critical thinking skills by applying mathematical models to real world problems or utilizing mathematical objects and theorems to evaluate the validity of a statement or to prove mathematical statements.

The AS-T degree in Mathematics meets the requirements of SB 1440 for Associate Degrees for Transfer. While the degree is designed for ease of transfer to a California State University campus, it does not exclude admittance to other colleges and universities.

To earn an Associate in Science – Transfer (AS-T) in Mathematics, a student must complete 60 semester units that are eligible for transfer to the CSU system. Should the student fall below the 60 units between the major unit requirements and the CSU – General Education (GE)/Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) pattern, the difference can be made up through CSU transferable elective units as outlined below.

Required Core CoursesUnits
MATH 150, Calculus and Analytic Geometry 5
MATH 160, Calculus and Analytic Geometry 5
MATH 250, Calculus and Analytic Geometry 5

Choose a minimum of six units from below with at least three units from A:

Required Electives A Units
MATH 220, Linear Algebra 4
MATH 230, Introduction to Ordinary Differential Equations 4

Required Electives B Units
PHYS 110, General Physics 5
MATH 115, Statistics 4
  Total 1819

CSU GE or IGETC pattern 38-41
