Facilities: Road Closures and Campus Circulation

Improving and expanding the campus facilities brings many challenges and occasional inconveniences. In the process of building a better college we ask for you patience and understanding. Our team is committed to minimizing the disruptions to the operations of the college. We apologize for any inconvenience that you may experience due to construction activities on campus.

Current Road Closings

The following parking and traffic circulation changes will take affect on Saturday, October 3rd:

  • Parking Lots #6, #7 and #8 will be reserved for staff and handicapped parking only. Student and visitor parking will NOT be allowed due to no through access and potential related safety issues with limited traffic circulation. The only entrance and exit for Lots #6, #7 and #8 will be at Entrance D from Avenue K.
  • Entrance E will be closed to all traffic. No entrance or exit will be allowed from Entrance E to 30th Street West.
  • Parking Lot #9 will be reserved for staff and handicapped parking only. Student and visitor parking will NOT be allowed due to limited circulation and access and potential related safety issues. A portion of Lot #9 will not be accessible to vehicles due to construction on the west side of the parking lot.
  • Parking Lot #10 is open to all vehicles, however, parking and access will be limited due to construction on the west side of the parking lot.
  • Pedestrian access for Building T100, Lot #9 and Lot #10 will be provided by a pedestrian walkway that will be east of the construction area and connect to the campus at the Student Services Building and south of the Applied Arts Building.
  • The ACCESS Bus Stop is being relocated to the front of the Student Services Building identified by 'BUS STOP' signs.

Ongoing Road Closures:

  • The north access road from Avenue J-8 to the Automotive Complex is closed due to construction
  • The access road from Lot #2 to the Automotive Complex is closed due to construction
  • Parking Lot 5 is closed due to construction

Look for signage indicating alternate routes.

Logistics Plan

Logistics Map includes:

  • Perimeter fencing
  • Vehicle access to Auto Body, Auto Shop, Smog Check Referee and Receiving Warehouse
  • Pedestrian access to softball fields and tennis courts
  • Soccer fields access
  • Access to SOAR Parking though Parking Lot 2

Campus Circulation Notices

  • Parking Lot #5 closed until the completion of the Theater Arts Facility.
  • Staff Parking - Additional staff spaces are available in Lot #20 next to the Sheriff's Academy and Lot #8 is now dedicated to the staff.
  • Campus Security Escort Service. Campus Security will escort you across campus or to your car. For this service call Campus Security at 722-6399.

Construction Site Access Procedures

Important Safety Related Information

The following procedures regarding activity on district construction sites are to be adhered to by all district employees and representatives.

ONLY AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ARE ALLOWED ON A CONSTRUCTION SITE. The following procedure will be followed by all non-construction personnel:

Request Access

Request for construction site access is submitted to the Director of Facilities Planning & Campus Development by email or memorandum. Each request must provide the following:

  • Name of each person accessing site.
  • Date and time period to access the site.
  • Describe which site is to be accessed and purpose of site access.

Access Request Review

Construction site access review completed by Director of Facilities Planning & Campus Development confirmed by email to Program Construction Manager and requestor(s). Requests will be reviewed as time permits. It is recommended to provide at least two weeks notice.

Access Request Approval

Program Construction Manager will confirm or deny access request. Construction site conditions can change hourly depending on activities and weather. The Program Construction Manager has the ultimate authority for providing site access.

Site Access Requirements

  1. All personnel MUST sign in at the main construction management office, located south of the tennis courts, prior to entering a construction site.
  2. All personnel MUST wear personal safety protection items as directed by the Program Construction Manager or designee. 
  3. All personnel MUST adhere to all directions given by the Program Construction Manager or designee.
  4. All personnel MUST sign out at the main construction management office after leaving a construction site.

Authorized Personnel Must Wear Required Personal Safety Protection

District personnel must wear personal safety protection equipment on a construction site as directed by the Program Construction Manager. Personal safety protection equipment may include but is not limited to hard hat, safety glasses, boots and safety vest.

District Personnel May Not Give Direction to Contractors

All information and direction from the district regarding any aspect of a project is done by the Director of Facilities Planning & Campus Development. Casual conversations with contractor personnel can lead to unauthorized work, materials and/or construction methods that the District will be liable for.

These procedures will be enforced to ensure the safety of every individual on a construction site.

District personnel who violate these procedures will receive a written violation from the Program Construction Managers’ office and are subject to disciplinary action by the district. Written violations will be submitted to Human Resources and Facilities Planning & Campus Development.
