The Antelope Valley College Art Gallery presents “Imprint”, a group printmaking exhibition on view Wednesday, March 18 – Friday, April 17. The exhibit features a nationwide selection of artists working in a variety of printmaking processes.
The show introduces the idea of the traditional print while also examining how the print has become a provocative arena for experiment and exploration by contemporary artists. Through their works, these printmakers infuse the historic tradition of printmaking with a potent contemporary voice. Some pieces leave traces of contemporary relics, such as potato chip grease, while others directly challenge urgent political topics. Many pieces combine current and traditional printing media. Several artists set to resolve an entirely traditional and labor intensive process, like mezzotint or etching, with more familiar, contemporary printing technologies such as Xerox and digital printing.
Please join us for the reception on Wednesday, March 18, from 7pm-9pm with a curator’s talk at 7:15 pm.
