| State matching funds for building a three-story science building in 2008-2009. The state funds $39.3 million of $53 million cost.
State matching funds for constructing a new performing arts building beginning this year. The state funds $11.3 million of $17.6 million cost.
Work on the new agricultural complex ($11.9 million) will begin construction this fiscal year (2007-2008). In addition, the West Campus Expansion, will have a new physical fitness/sports complex, which includes a stadium for state finalist AVC women’s
softball, Sprinturf practice and playing fields for football and baseball, as well as a new football stadium.
The oversight committee has been pleased with the quick progress – as
project manager Doug Jensen said, “Time is money.”
A visit to our Lancaster campus shows that indeed, time has been well spent and money has been saved.
Our committee, 18 members including representatives from the cities of Lancaster and Palmdale, the County of Los Angeles, senior citizen’s and taxpayers’
organization, the AVC Foundation, the business community, and the Town of Rosamond in Kern County as well as six at-large members, have had a front row seat as the Lancaster campus doubles in size. And our members have been happy to use their many talents to provide insight and perspective from many walks of life.
Now, what is your vision for a 21st century college campus in Palmdale? To get matching funds, we need more students taking classes in the Palmdale area.
Ask about it when you enroll or see to it that your family member or student has the option. And let us know your vision for what the physical campus should include as well.

What is your vision of a 21st century college campus?
Over at 30th Street West and Avenue K, thanks to input from faculty and the foresight of capable engineers, planners, and managers, vision is becoming reality. Spacious parking lots – well lit and close to campus classrooms have just been completed.
In 2004, we, the residents of the Antelope Valley, passed a bond to ensure that our community college would continue to meet the growing needs of our maturing community. When state Proposition 1D passed last year, AVC administration was ready:
