Artist's Rendering of Health & Sciences Building currently in the design stage.

New state-of-the-art laboratories for health and science programs are coming to Antelope Valley College. Made possible by the passage of local bond measure R, the 104,000-square-foot facility will provide critical instructional space for expanding programs in the areas of health and science.

The community will benefit greatly as Antelope Valley College expands training for critical medical fields. The new building will include laboratory space for nursing, radiological technology, surgery technician, cardiovascular technician, emergency medical services, medical assisting and health professions. Included in the facility is a 100-seat surgery demonstration laboratory.

The existing Science building complex was constructed in 1960 and cannot meet the current demand for science classes. Due to the tremendous need to complete science courses for medical careers and many bachelor's degrees, a large number of science laboratories are being constructed. Modern instructional laboratories and laboratory support areas will be provided for biology, microbiology, botany, anatomy, physiology, physical science, physics, chemistry, astronomy, geology, anthropology and geography. An 80-seat planetarium/atmospherium will provide an area for viewing and studying the cosmos.

Lecture classrooms are also included in the project and will provide vital classroom space for a variety of college programs. An interdisciplinary learning center, faculty offices, meeting rooms and a café/dining area are also included in this project to help meet the growing needs of Antelope Valley College.
