Technology is a critical part of the learning environment as well as the districts daily business operations. The increasing demands for technology are being met by upgrading the districts network infrastructure and telephone system.
The Antelope Valley College Facilities Master Plan states, “Networking is a critical part of the technological learning environment of the future. New networks need to be designed with large bandwidth and speed in order to handle the growing demands of text, graphics, audio and video resources.” The current network will be upgraded and expanded to handle the next decade of growth.
Upgrading the district telephone switch will meet future growth demands and allow for a seamless tie-in to the existing Voice Over IP system. A significant safety upgrade was completed in 2006 when emergency telephones were installed in all classrooms throughout the campus. This allows for instant communications to the Campus Police Department in case of any type of emergency.
