Message from the President
Ms. Dianne Knippel

Helen Acosta

July 9, 2007

The good news is - our Antelope Valley College (AVC) district serves one of the fastest growing areas in California. We are poised to serve over 20,000 students within the next 7 years. The AVC Foundation is ready to support the college’s students and faculty with a focused 5-year plan in lock step with the college’s plan.

The Foundation works to generate individual and corporate contributions and partnerships to support the college’s mission, its students and faculty.   Over the next 5 years we will continue to take a regional approach to enhance the college’s success while building community partnerships. The Foundation has grown significantly over the past two years.   For example, since 2002 we have increased our scholarships by 26 percent and our net assets are close to $2 million.

With the upcoming capital projects made possible by the bond, we are ready for this growth.   However, public funding has never been enough to sustain the college’s diverse programs and the role of private support becomes increasingly important as we continue our planned growth.   There are many ways you can give such as to unrestricted gifts, to scholarships, to endowments, to athletics and to planned giving.   I invite you to invest in the college as it is an investment in the future of our community.

As the new incoming President of the Foundation, I want to thank outgoing president, Helen Acosta, for her leadership and expertise.   I look forward to this year as we continue supporting our students and faculty.   Our support makes a real and lasting difference.

Best Regards,

Dianne Knippel
President, Antelope Valley College Foundation
