AVC Foundation: Message from the Foundation President

“It’s not whether you get knocked down. It’s whether you get up again.” With severe budget cuts totaling more than $4.5 million for AVC, the Antelope Valley College Foundation is committed now more than ever to garner private and corporate funding to support affordable and accessible education for our community at Antelope Valley College. As we begin the fall 2009 semester and our 80th year of service, enrollment is already exceeding 14,000 students. The AVC Foundation is poised to make the most of the many unique opportunities available to support the college.
In 1993, when Antelope Valley College established a foundation to develop private support for the college’s future, we could hardly imagine the vast growth in both the Antelope Valley and our educational community. Antelope Valley College is poised to serve nearly 20,000 students within the next 10 years. With high unemployment rates and students being deferred from the UC and Cal State systems, the need for financial support for AVC is greater than ever.
The AVC Foundation Board of Directors works diligently to raise awareness about the intrinsic value Antelope Valley College provides our community. The Foundation works to generate individual and corporate sources of revenue to support the college’s mission, and develop mutually beneficial partnerships to strengthen local businesses, develop our workforce, and support the valley’s educational and cultural development.
With the numerous buildings and capital projects taking shape on the Lancaster campus and the expansion of the interim Palmdale center, there are more opportunities than ever to demonstrate your support for higher education at Antelope Valley College. There are naming opportunities for the West Campus Expansion including the stadium and athletic fields, the Agriculture Building and labs, the Theater Arts facility, the Health and Sciences Building, and much more.
I invite you to be a part of Antelope Valley College’s future through your support and involvement. I also challenge you to make an investment in the future of our community by supporting AVC Foundation and Antelope Valley College.
Best regards,
