Event and wedding planning focus of course at AVC

People interested in event or wedding planning can gain hands-on experience and certification through a 10-week course by Antelope Valley College Corporate and Community Services.

How to Start a Wedding Planning Business” is offered in conjunction with The Wedding Planning Institute, a nationally recognized training program for the wedding industry.

The comprehensive program will cover all aspects that a wedding planner would need to know to get started in the business. Students will get hands-on experience at weddings, meet with local vendors and participate in class trips to tour venues and facilities.

Classes will meet 1-5 p.m. Sundays, Sept. 12-Nov. 14 in BE 246 at the Lancaster campus, 3041 W. Ave. K, Lancaster.

The fee for the program covers a textbook, six months of access to an online library, membership in the American Society of Wedding Planners, national certification from the Wedding Planning Institute, paid and non-paid apprenticeships, and job placement assistance. The cost is $975.

The Wedding Planning Institute is a division of Lovegevity Inc., a national event-planning agency.
