Grant writing workshop to assist new and experienced money seekers

People wanting to learn to write a winning grant proposal are encouraged to enroll in “Grant Writing Fundamentals,” a one-day workshop offered by Antelope Valley College’s Corporate and Community Services Office 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27 in BE 241 at the Lancaster campus, 3041 W. Ave. K.

Dr. John Drew of the Drew and Associates management consulting firm based in Laguna Nigel will conduct the workshop, which is suited for new and experienced grant  writers, executive directors, organizers, board members, development officers and community volunteers.

The hands-on workshop will provide a detailed look at the grant writing process, including relevant information needed for a successful grant proposal.

Participants will learn how funding is announced, how applications are judged, and how to construct each element of a winning proposal. The skills covered are particularly useful for nonprofit organizations applying for local, state or federal grant programs.

A certificate of completion will be provided to all who finish the workshop.

Drew boasts an 80 percent success rate as a grant writer.

Students may register online at http://www.avc.edu/academics/ccs/ or contact the Corporate and Community Services Office at (661) 722-6300, ext. 6584.
