Pharmacy tech training program offers information session

An information session on a Pharmacy Technician Training program will be held 6 p.m., Friday, Jan. 22 in BE 245 (Business Education Building), Antelope Valley College, 3041 W. Ave. K, Lancaster.

The seven-month program, offered by the college’s Corporate and Community Services Office in cooperation with Boston Reed College, will have classes beginning Feb. 20 in Lancaster and March 23 in Palmdale. Student wanting to enroll in the program must attend the orientation.

The program offers students the opportunity to become a registered Pharmacy Technician anywhere in California.

Technicians help pharmacists to package or mix prescriptions, maintain client records, assist with inventory control and purchasing, coordinate billing, and other tasks.

The course includes 182 hours of classroom instruction plus a 120-hour externship at a local pharmacy.

Boston Reed College, a private college based in Napa, provides the curriculum and instructor for the course.
