A standing-room only audience listened to Antelope Valley College alumni and the nation’s poet laureate Kay Ryan share her poetry and respond to questions during a Dec. 8 visit to campus.

Ryan, a former Rosamond resident, was appointed by the Library of Congress as the nation’s Poet Laureate in July 2008. She is a 1965 graduate of Antelope Valley College.

Joining Ryan for the evening was another poet, Kate Gale, a former AVC instructor and managing editor of Red Hen Press. Both poets held a roundtable discussion with college writing students prior to the poetry reading.
