SAT-1 preparation workshop slated

A series of four weekend workshops designed to improve the scores of college-bound students taking the SAT is being offered Jan. 8, 9, 16 and 22 through Antelope Valley College’s Corporate and Community Services Office.

The first workshop will be held 4-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8 in Room BE 246 at the Lancaster campus, 3041 W. Ave. K. Subsequent workshops will be held 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturdays and 4-8 p.m. Friday.

The preparation program taught by Math Magicians features 16 hours of instruction and practice SAT sessions designed to maximize students’ scores on the entrance exam.

Students will learn specific strategies for handling each type of SAT question including an essay, writing, sentence completions, critical reading, arithmetic, algebra and geometry.

A study of vocabulary and general preparation strategies, such as reducing test anxiety, will be provided as well.
