Health care providers to learn about cardiac, respiratory emergencies

Recognizing cardiac and respiratory emergencies and instituting life-support measures will be the focus of a one-day workshop offered 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7 by Antelope Valley College’s Corporate and Community Services Office.

“Recognition of Cardiac and Respiratory Emergencies” is designed for those working in the health care field. It will be taught in APL 115 at the Lancaster campus, 3041 W. Ave. K.

Instruction will cover basic anatomy and physiology of the heart, recognition of signs and symptoms of myocardial infarction, airway obstruction, sudden death and implementation of life-support measures.

Enrollment is limited to 16 students.

Cost of the workshop is $65, plus a $4 material fee and the purchase of a required textbook from the college’s Marauder Bookstore. Students may register online at or contact Corporate and Community Services at (661) 722-6300, ext. 6584.
