Tournament to raise funds for athletics

A day of golf, food, prizes and a demonstration by long-drive champion Vince Howell will be featured at the 10th annual Slam Dunk Golf Tournament being held Sept. 9 at the Rancho Vista Golf Course to benefit Antelope Valley College Marauder Athletics.

The event, which benefits all of the college’s intercollegiate athletic programs, gets underway with check-in and a putting contest at 10:30 a.m. with a noon shotgun start to the four-person scramble tournament.

Registration is $125 per person or $150 per person for a combo package that includes two mulligans, putting contest and 10 raffle tickets. Tournament entry includes golf cart, green fee, range balls, gift bag, golf shirt, prizes, closest-to-hole award, long-drive awards, continental breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Registration deadline is Aug. 19.

“I can promise you good golf, good food and a great time supporting Antelope Valley College as a player in the tournament,” said Bret Banks, chairman for the tournament committee. There are also sponsorship packages available.
