LVN phlebotomy course offered at AVC

Licensed vocational nurses (LVN), registered nurses, physician assistants and medical assistants can obtain phlebotomy certification though a six-unit continuing education course offered through Antelope Valley College’s Corporate and Community Services 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 26.

Instructor Patricia Karnstedt will provide three hours of phlebotomy theory followed by each participant demonstrating three successful finger punctures and three successful vein accesses for blood draw.

The course provides LVNs with certification through the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians.

LVNs must have a valid nursing license to register. Students will be required to show their nursing licenses at the time of registration.

The class will meet in APL 119 at the college’s Lancaster campus, 3041 W. Ave. K.
