SAT-1 preparation workshops slated

A series of four workshops designed to improve the scores of college-bound students taking the SAT is being offered starting Friday, Jan. 7 through Antelope Valley College’s Corporate and Community Services Office.

The workshops will be held 4-8 p.m. Jan. 7, 14 and 21 and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Jan. 8 at the Lancaster campus, 3041 W. Ave. K.

The preparation program taught through Math Magicians features 16 hours of instruction and practice SAT sessions designed to maximize students’ scores on the entrance exam.

Students will learn specific strategies for handling each type of SAT question including an essay, writing, sentence completions, critical reading, arithmetic, algebra and geometry.

A study of vocabulary and general preparation strategies, such as reducing test anxiety, will be provided as well.
