AVC to host scholarship workshops

Students wanting to improve their chances of receiving a scholarship through the Antelope Valley College Foundation are encouraged to attend one of five workshops being held in November.

The free workshops will assist students in filling out AVC’s scholarship application and explain what scholarship screening committee members will be looking for from applicants.

High school seniors and current AVC students are invited to attend.

Workshops are slated for the Lancaster campus, 3041 W. Ave. K, except as noted:

  • 4-5:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 14, APL 112
  • 2-3:15 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 15, APL 103
  • 9:30-10:50 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 16, ME 110
  • 12:30-2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 16, SV 3H, Palmdale Center
  • 9-10:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 17, LS2 153

The workshops will be presented by Sandi Rogers, AVC Foundation scholarship technician, along with Diane Flores-Kagen, AVC Writing Center learning specialist.  Students should RSVP the date they plan to attend by calling (661) 722-6300, ext. 6860, or e-mail srogers2@avc.edu

Parents are invited to accompany their student, if desired, and if space is available.  Each workshop is limited to 30 students.

The foundation will be giving out close to 200 scholarships on behalf of donors this season. All students are encouraged to apply. The required grade point average is 2.0.  Family financial status is not a factor for most of scholarships.
