Dance concert to be held April 20-21 at AVC

Dance Dimensions 2012, an annual showcase of dance by Antelope Valley College students, faculty and community members, will be held 7 p.m. April 20-21 at the college’s Performing Arts Theatre, 3041 W. Ave. K, Lancaster.

This year’s performance,  “Dance Upon the Here and After,” is “an eclectic fairytale based on dreams, love, hope, heartbreaks, the future and present day,” according to show director Cindy Littlefield. The show “was inspired by past fables and traditions of our ancestors who brought us the most basic of all art forms: dance,” she said.

Performers will create a fable based on “life’s hardships, magical adventures, and imaginations of the future,” according to Littlefield.

The concert will include a performance by Antelope Valley Ballet and will feature live music by Wes Gross. Trevor Lynskey is a guest choreographer for the show, which will include hip-hop, modern and jazz dance, in addition to ballet.

This year’s performance marks a change in venue following completion of the campus Performing Arts Theatre. Prior year performances were held off campus.

Advance tickets are available online at for $15 general admission and $12 for seniors, military personnel and students with identification. Any remaining tickets will be available at the theater box office prior to show time.
