Vice president candidate to attend public forum

A local man being considered for the position of vice president of human resources at Antelope Valley College will be on campus Monday, April 8 to discuss his qualifications and respond to questions during a public forum 3 p.m. in the Board Room, SSV 151, 3041 W. Ave. K, Lancaster. Members of the community are invited to attend.

Mark Bryant, assistant superintendent of personnel for the Antelope Valley Union High School District, is a finalist for the assistant superintendent/vice president of human resources and employee relations at AVC following a nationwide search.

Such forums are traditionally conducted for top administrative positions at the college. The public forum will be preceded by meetings with campus constituent groups.

Bryant has worked for the high school district since 1986, when he taught biology. He moved up through the ranks, serving as vice principal, assistant principal and principal before securing his current position at the district office.

Bryant holds a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology from the University of California, Los Angeles and a master’s in education administration from California State University, Northridge.

He is seeking to fill the position formerly held by Michael “Shane” Turner, who resigned last year to accept a job with the University of Oregon.
