Four finalists named for vice president's job

Four finalists for the vice president of student services position at Antelope Valley College are scheduled to take part in public forums April 29-May 2.

The forums are part of a daylong series of activities to introduce finalists to various campus constituent groups and the public.

The finalists and forum dates are Dr. Erin E. Vines, April 29, Dr. Karen Cowell, April 30, Dr. Howard J. Irvin, May 1, and Dr. Jill Zimmerman, May 2. The forums will be held 3-4 p.m. each day at the Lancaster campus Board Room, Student Services Building Room 151, 3041 W. Ave. K.

The four are vying for the position formerly held by Dr. Rosa Hall, who retired in 2011 after overseeing such student service areas as counseling, admissions and various categorical programs. Newton Chelette was named as interim vice president of student services last year.

Vines currently serves as dean of counseling and special services at Solano Community College in Fairfield. He has a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Southern California and a master’s from University of LaVerne.

Cowell earned a doctorate in health education from the University of Maryland and a Master of Science in Nursing degree from Marymount University.
