High school administrator given AVC job

Mark Bryant, assistant superintendent of personnel for the Antelope Valley Union High School District, was chosen Monday as AVC’s vice president of human resources, effective June 10.

Trustees voted 4-0 to hire Bryant, with trustee Betty Wienke abstaining because she knows the Bryant family.

Bryant has worked for the high school district since 1986. He taught biology before moving into management positions, that included serving as vice principal, assistant principal and principal before moving into his current position.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology from the University of California, Los Angeles and a master’s in education administration from California State University, Northridge.
