Scholarship Workshops for Students Scheduled

Student Workshops have been scheduled to assist students in completing the application for this year's AVC Foundation Scholarships. These workshops are designed to help students understand how to best fill out the application in order to help raise their chances for receiving a scholarship from the AVC Foundation. The Foundation will award over 200 scholarships on behalf of various donors this season.

Students only need to complete one application in order to be eligible for all scholarships for which they meet the criteria. All students are encouraged to apply. All applicants except high school students must be enrolled in at least six units in the fall of 2013 in order to qualify. Family financial status is not a factor for most scholarships.

The workshops are also available for high school seniors who plan to attend AVC during fall 2014, as well as those continuing at AVC or transferring to a four year university in the fall.

Following are the dates and times scheduled for the workshops:

  • Wednesday, November 13, 2013, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., SSV 151
  • Thursday, November 14, 2013, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., HS 201
  • Friday, November 15, 2013, 4 to 6 p.m., HS 201
  • Tuesday, November 19, 2013, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Palmdale Center, SV3C

The workshops will be presented by Sandi Rogers, AVC Foundation Scholarship Technician. Parents are invited to accompany their student, if desired, and if space is available. All workshops at the Lancaster campus have a capacity of 100, so no reservations are required and will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The deadline for submitting the scholarship application is 4:30 p.m., Tuesday January 21, 2014 at the AVC Financial Aid Office.  The application and additional information on each scholarship is available at For more information, please contact Sandi Rogers at 661-722-6300, ext. 6860.
