When the 28 th annual Mathematics Field Day was over, students from Paraclete, Desert and Hart high schools walked away with bragging rights for having the top math students in their respective categories.

Desert High School students Mark Canning and Aley Barnum finished first in the Leap Frog Relay for freshmen/sophomores in the Newton League for small schools. Finishing second were the Antelope Valley Christian team of Kenneth Kim and Diana Kang.
The Leap Frog Relay derives its name from the ability of teammates to exchange papers during the test.
In the Leibnitz League for large schools, Hart High School’s Eric Meissner and Rebecca Talking won first place in the Leap Frog Relay. Quart Hill High School, represented by Nithya Kubendran and John Hsu, finished second.
Hart and Quartz Hill repeated their first and second place finishes in the junior-senior competition. Allison Kamiya, Jason Chew and Caitlin Carpenter led the Hart team to a first place trophy among upper classmen. Quartz Hill’s team of Amber Archambo, Bryan Grace and Katie Ellefson finished second
