Two new members sought for oversight committee
Antelope Valley College is seeking a college student and a member of a senior citizens organization to fill two openings on its Citizens’ Oversight Committee, with the responsibility of ensuring that local bond proceeds are spent according to their intended purposes.
The 18-member committee was established after local voters in 2004 approved a $139 million bond issue to fund new labs, classrooms and related construction projects for the college district.
The committee is charged with reviewing performance and financial audits until all bond proceeds are exhausted. Members serve two-year terms, not to exceed two consecutive terms.
By law, the committee must have at least one member of a senior citizens organization and one enrolled student active in a community college group.
Committee meetings are open to the public.
Anyone interested in serving on the Citizens’ Oversight Committee should contact the AVC President’s Office by March 3,
(661) 722-6300, ext. 6301. Applications for the volunteer positions are available online at www.avc.edu
