AVC hosts free financial workshops for anyone interested in higher education
Learn about various sources of money to attend colleges or universities when Antelope Valley College hosts its fifth annual Cash for College event, Feb. 1 at the campus, 3041 W. Ave. K, Lancaster.
The college will host daytime and evening sessions of the same free program, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and 5-7:30 p.m. Guests should check in at a registration table on the east side of the Business Education (BE) Building, where they can obtain a complete workshop schedule, map and other information.
The event is open to anyone planning to attend any college or university.
Experts from Antelope Valley College’s Financial Aid Office will be joined by representatives from lending institutions to present a series of workshops, which are designed to help people understand the processes for scholarships, grants and loans.
Assistance will be provided in money management and college savings plans.
There will also be an opportunity to win one of several scholarships being awarded at the event.
Workshops will be offered simultaneously throughout the day and evening to enable individuals to attend several sessions on different topics. Each session is 40 minutes.
Topics include:
- An overview of financial aid
- Filling out Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Cal Grants
- Student loans
- Money management
- Scholarships
- How to enroll at AVC
