Staged in an actual circus "big top" tent, the musical theater show"Barnum" will be presented by Antelope Valley College's Theatre Arts
Department weekends on campus beginning Friday through June 30.

Black Box Theatre 8 p.m. June 22-23, 29-30 and 10 a.m. matinees June 23
and 30. Tickets are $20 for general admission, $15 for senior or
military, and $10 for students or college employees with proper
identification. Group family tickets are also available.

www.avctheatrearts.com.
"Barnum" chronicles the life of P.T. Barnum and his rise from humble
beginnings to his stature as a world-renowned impresario.
The show is meant to be "filled with wonders from around the world –
wire walkers, acrobats, jugglers, trapeze artists and much more – and
is accompanied by a brassy razzle-dazzle score," said director/producer
Mark Branner.
"While 'Barnum' is a musical about theatrical magic and illusion,
proving Mr. Barnum's claim that 'there's a sucker born every minute,'
we, the audience, love every second of it," Branner said.
"Barnum" is based on the book by Mark Bramble with music by Cy Coleman
and lyrics by Michael Stewart.
While Branner emphasizes that the show is not an actual circus, but
rather a theater show about one of the historical "giants" of the
circus, it is "jumbo-sized fun and is appropriate for children of all
ages who ever dreamed of 'running away with The Greatest Show on
Earth.'"
Any remaining tickets may be purchased immediately before each show
outside the AVC big top. For information call (661) 722-6394.
