Oil paintings by Russian artist Natasha Timares will be featured in a solo exhibition Oct. 1-31 at the Antelope Valley College Art Gallery, 3041 W. Ave. K, Lancaster.

The show, entitled "Passion to Paint," will include numerous works by the artist, who is now based in Los Angeles. She is a descendant of the 19th century Russian sculptor M.O. Mikeshin.
She began her formal art education in French Morocco at the College Mers Sultan. She has continued her studies with the late Sergei Bongart and at the Otis Art Institute and University of California, Los Angeles, among others.
Timares has exhibited internationally. Her work can be found in the Kotlas Regional Museum in Russia and the A.A. Borisov Museum in Krasnoborsk.
Timares will be present for a gallery reception 7-9 p.m. Oct. 1. The reception will include a talk by the artist at 7:15 p.m.
Gallery shows are free to the public. Parking is 50 cents. Hours are 9 a.m.-9 p.m., Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m., Friday, and 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday.
