Assessment Center: Proctoring Services
The Testing and Assessment Center at Antelope Valley College (AVC) offers proctoring services to students enrolled in distance education courses at other colleges, universities or institutions. To have an exam proctored at AVC, you must submit a proctor request form (listed below). A separate form must be submitted for each class requiring proctored exams. After securing proctoring services with AVC, you will need to follow your home institution’s procedures for having us approved as your proctoring site.

- The current proctoring rate is a flat fee of $25 per exam.
Making Payment to Take a Proctored Exam
- Payment must be made prior to taking a proctored exam.
- Payment method: cash only.
- You will be emailed an invoice each time we receive an exam to be proctored. The invoice statement must be printed out and taken to the Cashier's Office in order to process the proctoring fee.
- Payment is accepted at the Cashier's Office*- Student Services (SSV) Building, 1st Floor.
- You must bring the receipt of payment issued by the Cashier when checking-in to the Testing and Assessment Center for your scheduled test appointment.
*Cashier's Business Hours (Spring 2012): Mondays through Thursdays, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Scheduling an Exam Appointment
- Exams are scheduled during our proctoring hours (Spring 2012):
- Mondays: 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- Tuesdays - Fridays: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Upon receipt of your exam from your home institution, we will contact you to schedule a test appointment.
- Exams that require software downloads or special Internet settings may not be compatible with our computer testing lab. Contact the Assessment Center for more information about any special technical configurations and/or software requirements.
- You are responsible for setting up proctoring services and scheduling test appointments that will allow enough time for you to complete your exam during our business hours as well as meet your home institution’s completion deadline.
- Make sure to factor in postal delay when taking paper/pencil exams processed by mail.

Checking-in for a Proctored Exam
- Photo ID required to take an exam.
- The Cashier's receipt must be presented before taking an exam.
- Parking on campus requires a parking permit- all day permits (50 cents) are available for purchase at the yellow ticket dispensing machines located in various entrances throughout the campus.
- Repeat “No Shows” may result in the refusal of future proctoring requests.
- Photo ID required for proctoring service.
- Proctored exams are offered by appointment only.
- Exam materials or online proctor access codes must be sent to AVC’s Assessment Center by the home institution prior to making a test appointment - if your home institution requires the setting of a test appointment before sending the exam materials, you will need to contact us to make a special advance testing arrangement.
- Exam materials are kept in a locked file in the Assessment Center.
- Hardcopy exams will be mailed to your home institution by AVC's mail room services.
- We will administer exams according to the proctoring instructions provided by the home institution.
- We do not provide scantrons, pencils/pens, blue books, lined paper or calculators.
- Paper/pencil exams may be returned either by mail, fax or scanned and emailed as a PDF attachment - if mailed, exams completed after 2:00 p.m. will be sent the following business day.
- Cell phones, ipods, personal media devices and children are not permitted in the testing room.
- We provide open access storage cubbies for personal items. We strongly recommend that you leave your valuable items at home or locked in your vehicle as they are not permitted in the test room.
- If caught cheating, your exam will be stopped. The incident will be immediately reported to the home institution.
- Proctoring services may be discontinued for failure to comply with these rules.
