Student Services: Library

Important Information

  • Interlibrary Loans

    Policies

Books, periodical and other materials may be borrowed from other libraries through a process known as Interlibrary Loan.

  • Procedures

To request an interlibrary loan, please request an interlibrary loan form from the Reference Desk in the Library. Return the completed form to a Reference Librarian.

Please provide complete bibliographic information for the item(s) requested. Incomplete request forms will not be processed.

All faculty, staff and students will be required to show an AVC ID card to obtain interlibrary loan services. Students must be enrolled for the current semester.

Please allow 2 weeks for delivery. When your item arrives you will be notified by phone.

If your the Library is unable to fulfill your request, you will be notified by phone.

Materials are due on or before the date provided by the Library.

The fine for late return of Interlibrary Loan materials is 30 cents per day per book.

Failure to pick up materials will result in a loss of interlibrary loan privileges.

Community Borrower card holders and Chapman University students holding library courtesy cards are not eligible for interlibrary loans.

For more information on Interlibrary Loans or to check the status of a request, please contact Shannon Knab at (661) 722-6300 ext. 6218.

Notice

Warning Concerning Copyright Restrictions

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material.

Under Certain Conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.” If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use”, that user may be liable for copyright infringement.

This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
