Summer Just Got Smarter at AVC
In an effort to increase class offerings for students looking to jump-start or catch up on their degree, AVC has doubled their English course offering for the upcoming summer term. These include increased sections in basic skills courses (ENGL 095, 097, 099) and transferable English 101, 102 and 103.
“With a shorter timetable, summer is a great opportunity to get a head start on the rest of your college career,” said Dr. Bonnie Suderman, Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Academic Affairs. “This was made possible with thanks to our English faculty – doubling their class load to make this a reality.”
In addition to the English classes, 2016 summer offerings have increase by 25% over last year with 316 sections in 54 areas of study. New for summer, the college honors program will offer sections in four of the most popular transfer-level classes. And for students looking to get a head start in Math, AVC is offering three sections of the particularly successful MATH 99, a self-paced alternative to basic skills (MATH 065, 070, 102).
Summer session is scheduled for June 13 – Aug. 6, 2016. Both the summer and fall schedule of classes is now available online at http://www.avc.edu/information/schedule. In 2009, AVC moved to an online-only schedule in an effort to be more environmentally friendly and save money.
Priority registration for both sessions begins May 3. Open registration follows May 19.
New students are encouraged to complete an online orientation, take an assessment and create an education plan with a counselor. Continuing students should log on to their myAVC account and check the Student Success tab to verify they have completed matriculation steps.
