Auditions for Alice in Wonderland Starting Friday, August 24

Open auditions for the AVC Theatre Arts Department’s fall production of Lewis Carrol’s Alice in Wonderlandadapted by Sharon Holland will be held Friday, August 24 from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. and on Saturday, August 25 from noon until 4 p.m. in the AVC Performing Arts Theatre. Those auditioning only need to come to one of these sessions. A variety of roles are available for men, women and children. The AVC Theatre Arts Department encourages actors of any age, ethnicity, or physical ability to attend. Previous theatre experience is not mandatory for any role.

Curiouser and curiouser! After Alice tumbles down a mysterious rabbit hole, she finds herself in a strange land where everyone is raving mad. Her insatiable curiosity draws her into a madcap adventure in which she meets remarkable characters like the Cheshire Cat, a Wise Caterpillar, Talking Flowers, a Duchess and her Cook, the Mad Hatter and the March Hare. When Alice finally arrives in the Court of the Red Queen, she’s in for her biggest adventure of all. The wonder-filled world of Alice is a fantastic journey for the adventurous of any age.

Director Jeffrey Wienckowski is returning to Antelope Valley College to direct the production.  In addition to holding an MFA in Directing from UC San Diego, Jeff has directed numerous productions in San Diego, Los Angeles, and Hollywood.

Actors will be asked to “perform” a poem of their choosing as well as read from audition sides that will be made available upon their arrival. For additional information please contact Jeffrey Wienckowski via email at jwienckowski@avc.edu.
