Say “Hello” with AVC Arts and Humanities this Saturday


Antelope Valley College Arts and Humanities will host an open house this Saturday, May 12 from 10 am to 4 pm on the Fine Arts Quad of Antelope Valley College Lancaster Campus, 3041 W. Avenue K. The event is free and open to the public. 

The event will include performances from faculty and student music groups. Art, film, photography and philosophy discussions will take place throughout the day.


•       Student and faculty created art will be available for display and sale from Ceramics, Photo Club, and Digital Media.  

•       Photo Booth sponsored by the Photo Club 

•       Philosophy presentation and discourse 

•       Film showcase of student created short films 

•       Live music performances from the Percussion Club, Jazz, Test Flight, Beginning Rock Band, Classical Guitar Ensemble, and Music faculty 

•       Photography portfolio review and discussion with Tim Meyer, expert in Portrait and Wedding Photography, Advertising, and Film and Sean Black, internationally-published journalist and artist whose work explores life and the human experience within the nexus of social activism.

•       T-shirts for sale from the Arts & Humanities Division and Beginning Rock Band 

•       Food served from11am–1:30pm, as well as bottled water, soda, and various snacks and treats sold all day by student clubs

•       Friends of Arts & Humanities (campus wide clubs and organizations) including Umoja, STEM Club, Anthropology Club 

•       AVC student sign language interpreters will be on-site providing interpreting services and showcasing what they have learned.

•       After the event, at 7 pm the AVC Symphonic Band will perform Westward Bound in the Performing Arts Theatre. Tickets to the performance are $7.

·1:00pm - Nate Dillon - Beginning Rock Band 

·2:00pm - Lee Matalon - Jazz

·2:30pm - William Davilla - Guitar Ensemble 

·3:00pm - Erika Newman - Theatre One Acts 

·3:30pm - Suzanne Wakefield - Directing Scenes
