Weather Advisory For the Antelope Valley

The National Weather Service is forecasting chance of rain and snow showers today with snow levels possibly dropping to 2000 feet. Snow accumulation around 1 inch in the foothills, and possible dusting on valley floor. Snow accumulations could be heavier in the mountains (2-4 feet).

Due to the cold air moving in behind the storm, roads may be icy and/or snow covered in some areas. Icy road conditions will last longer in shaded areas plus higher elevations. Wet and ice or snow covered roadways reduce traction and increase stopping distance. Increase the spacing between vehicles and reduce speed to allow for wet and slippery conditions. Allow more time to reach your destination.

The college is scheduled to be open regular business hours today and the rest of the week. Should the Antelope Valley receive hazardous winter weather, any delays or closures will be communicated with staff and students via RAVE Emergency Alert and www.avc.edu.
