So far, the academy participated in sessions regarding leadership; the community role of the college; planning; public information, marketing, and governmental relations; and took a tour of the AVC facilities in Rosamond, Palmdale, Fox Airfield, and Lancaster.
The AVC Leadership Academy is a yearlong leadership training and education program created as an opportunity to develop a broader foundational understanding of the role and operation of Antelope Valley College. The program focuses on encouraging leadership growth among AVC employees who are seeking to ascend into management roles within their constituent group or in other areas of the college.
Current academy members include Ashley Johnson, Desiree Lee, Lisa O'Leary, and Keina Young from the classified staff; Rhonda Burgess, Kyle Jacobsen, Dawn McIntosh, and Michael White from CMS; Perry Jelicka, Vejea Jennings, Cole McCandless, and Kathryn Mitchell from faculty, and students Perla Chavez, Deanna Lee, Marisol Negrete, and Melvin Quezada Haro.
