Mission & Benefits

Mission

The Antelope Valley College Honors Transfer Alliance Program (TAP) is dedicated to providing excellence through unique classroom experiences aimed at preparing a diverse student body for university-level course work, while providing transfer opportunities through Honors to Honors transfer agreements negotiated by the Honors Transfer Council of California.

Benefits

Priority consideration for admission to University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), University of California Irvine (UCI), University of California Riverside (UCR), Whittier, Pomona College, Pitzer College, Occidental College, and Chapman University upon certification as an Honors Transfer Program (TAP) graduate is a benefit of the honors program. While fewer than 55% of standard transfer applicants are accepted to the UC system, the majority of honors transfer students are accepted at universities and colleges inside the alliance. Other benefits include:

  • Acknowledgement of honors courses on your transcript (H)
  • Small seminar classes
  • Close interaction with honors faculty
  • Motivated peers
  • Assistance of the Honors Counselors
  • Special recognition at graduation, also known as AVC Commencement
  • Celebrate your honors program completion at the 'invite only' Honors Convocation
  • Honors Scholar notation on AVC transcript (upon graduation)
