Workstation equipment is assigned to employees based upon role, and business need. The following outlines standards reviewed and revised by the Information Technology Committee, and are configured on an assumption of one workstation (be it desktop, laptop, or tablet), per employee. Deviations on standards must have a sound business case and be endorsed by the Dean or Director of a unit.  Models listed are examples as manufacturers update specs and models regularly.

District standards require the use of networked departmental printers to ensure consistent support, reduce maintenance costs, and promote equitable access across the campus. Individual printers are generally not approved unless there is a clearly defined confidentiality need that cannot be addressed through other means.

Even in cases where programs may have access to specific funding, the purchase of individual printers must still align with District-wide policy and operational practices. Approving individual printers outside of this standard creates disparities and introduces additional ongoing costs for toner, maintenance, and IT support.

Please note that ITS will not provide support for printers using non-OEM toner cartridges. The use of these cartridges may also void manufacturer warranties.
