At Antelope Valley College, students have the opportunity to earn money while working on campus in many departments. In order for a student to be eligible to work, the student must meet all Academic Eligibility Requirements.

All students applying for the Student Worker Program must apply for Financial Aid by completing a FAFSA. Visit the Financial Aid office for more information or if you have any questions.

Before beginning the hiring process, students must receive a job offer from a department. Once a student has an offer they can notify the Job Placement Center, who will then begin their onboarding process.

Working on campus provides various benefits, such as a flexible schedule built around your classes. It also provides students the chance to be more involved in campus activities, as well as the opportunity to build on-campus relationships with a wider group of people, including faculty, staff and administration.

An additional benefit of being a student worker is the work experience, offering a more practical hands-on approach than a classroom might. In addition, a student worker job provides work history that can be listed on a student’s resume when looking for full-time work after graduation. This will indicate to a potential employer that you have experience in a structured work environment with regular hours, better preparing you for the job market.

How to Find Current On-Campus Jobs

Antelope Valley College is in the process of transitioning to Handshake, a new career platform that will connect students with on-campus and off-campus job opportunities, internships, and employers nationwide.

At this time, College Central Network (CCN) is no longer active. While we prepare to launch Handshake, students are encouraged to reach out directly to campus departments to inquire about available student worker positions, as some areas may be hiring even if their openings are not yet posted online.

Coming Soon – Handshake:
Once the transition is complete, all student employment and internship listings will be available on Handshake. Students will be able to create profiles, upload resumes, and apply for jobs directly through the platform. Additional information and login instructions will be shared as we move closer to the official launch.

AVC Departments & Duties

Not all departments listed are currently hiring, but these Departments typically hire student workers throughout the semester. Also included is a brief description of what student workers do in those departments.
