Antelope Valley College's NextUp Program is here to help current and former foster youth succeed in college and beyond.
NextUp provides expanded support services, financial assistance and personalized guidance for students with foster care experience who are enrolled at a California community college. The program is designed to remove barriers and connect students with resources that make it easier to stay on track academically and build a strong future.
Eligible students may qualify if they were in foster care at any point on or after their 13th birthday, are enrolled in or working toward at least nine college units and are 26 years old or younger when first enrolling. Students who join before turning 26 may continue receiving services beyond that age, and some students who return after time away may also be eligible.
NextUp offers a wide range of support, including book and supply grants, technology assistance, transportation help, food support, housing referrals, priority registration, tutoring, counseling and career development opportunities. Students also receive help navigating financial aid programs such as the Chafee Grant and Cal Grant B Foster Youth Award.
Most importantly, NextUp provides consistent, personalized support through one-on-one connection so students never feel like they are doing college alone.
Students interested in joining are encouraged to apply and connect with the EOPS/NextUp office for more information.
