Summer 2024 Application

Summer applications will begin to be processed after Spring 24 grades are released. 

Fall 2024 Application

Fall applications will begin to be processed after Summer 24 grades are released. 

If you are getting an error message with the form your device (computer/phone) is remembering a non-AVC email address. Logout of that account and using your AVC outlook email you will be able to complete the form. 

 

The Basic Needs Application is where you apply for the following resources/programs:

  • Food

    • Marauder Marketplace

    • Bi-weekly Produce Distribution - open to all AVC students

  • Housing

    • AVC referrals to housing programs

  • Transportation

    • AVTA Bus Pass (Palmdale/Lancaster)

    • Kern Bus Pass (Free through June 2024)

    • One-time Gas Card Support (Amount based on AVC address on file and number of in person units)

    • Metrolink Adventure Pass (Free through March 2024)

  • Mental Health

    • TimelyCARE (Virtual Mental Health Counseling)

    • Voucher for in person session

  • Family Resource Center (Parenting Students)

    • AVC students who have dependent children in their care can received items such as: Diapers, Wipes, Clothing, Baby Food, Shampoo/Soap, Toys, Books, etc. 

    • AVC Child Development Center

  • Physical Health (Vouchers)

    • Vision (Eye exam and lenses/frames if prescribed by Wallis Family Eyecare)

    • Dental (x-rays, oral exam, and dental cleaning with Valley Wide Dental)

    • In-person Medical (Summit Urgent Care)

  • Hygiene

    • Campus Showers

  • Clothing and Laundry

    • Laundry Card

    • Shop our Dress for Success closet in T 100

      • Professional clothing available for Job Placement interviews as well as classroom presentations, internships, etc. 

  • Technology

    • WiFi Hotspot Loan

    • Chromebook Computer Loan

 

Additional Campus Resources

  • ASO Emergency Grant - Apply for a one-time assistance of up to $500

    • Students must meet the following requirements:

      • At least 1 semester completed at AVC

      • Must be making academic progress according to their Education Plan

      • Enrolled in a minimum of 6 units

      • 2.0 Semester and Cumulative GPA

      • Submitted FAFSA through Financial Aid department

      • Attach bills, invoices, etc. that match student's name to the application

Mission Statement

The Basic Needs Committee’s mission is to help Antelope Valley College students access on-campus and community resources to maximize student success in achieving educational goals. The committee strives to connect students with resources available, both on-campus and in the community that will address students’ basic needs so they can remain focused on education. The committee actively builds linkages and collaboration with partner agencies in the community that can help students meet their basic needs. Lastly, the committee seeks to promote awareness of resources to all students, faculty and staff.
