Antelope Valley College will celebrate culture, talent, and achievement during EmbraceAVC Week, a multi-day event series showcasing music, comedy, film, and theatre.
Presented by the AVC Office of Equity, Ethnic Studies, and Theatre Arts, EmbraceAVC Week invites the campus community to engage in the arts while exploring themes of identity, resilience, and cultural empowerment.

Wednesday, April 30
Hip-hop band The Neighborhood Kids kick off EmbraceAVC Week with a high-energy live performance, followed by a screening of “Somos,” a powerful short film chronicling a young boy’s experience in an ICE detention center in Texas. AVC Learning Center tutors will also be on site to provide academic support.

Thursday, May 1
AVC welcomes back Chicano Secret Service, known as “the most dangerous comedy troupe in Aztlán,” for a bold comedy show. The Neighborhood Kids will return to open the evening with live music. The AVC Transfer Center will be available during the event to assist students exploring transfer opportunities.

Saturday, May 3
The week concludes with "Latin History for Morons," a dynamic theatrical performance about a father’s journey to uncover and share the overlooked history of Latin culture. With humor and heart, the AVC student ensemble dives into everything from ancient Mayan civilization to contemporary trailblazers.
