Antelope Valley College's Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS) is excited to offer NextUp and Guardian Scholar programs designed to support current and former foster youth.
The NextUp program provides specialized support for foster youth to succeed academically and financially at AVC. Eligible students receive guidance, resources, and assistance while attending college.
Eligibility for NextUp:
- Eligible for EOPS
- Current or former foster youth
- Enrolled in at least 9 units (Exceptions Apply)
- Under 26 years old at the start of the academic year
- In out-of-home placement, dependency, or ward of the court after age 13
- Proof of dependency required
- Age restrictions apply
Guardian Scholars Program
The Guardian Scholars program offers a support system aimed at cultivating success for current and former foster youth. This program helps students thrive academically, personally, and emotionally by connecting them with key resources.
Eligibility for Guardian Scholars:
- Current or former foster youth
- Enrolled in at least 9 units (Exceptions Apply)
- Proof of dependency required
- Does not qualify for NextUp Program
- Age restrictions apply
Both programs provide a comprehensive support network to ensure students can reach their full potential.
