The Antelope Valley College (AVC) Marauders Fire Crew, operating as Inyo Crew 4, has returned from a successful cover assignment on the Inyo National Forest. Over the course of their deployment, the crew demonstrated exceptional skill, readiness, and professionalism while contributing to critical wildland fire preparedness and suppression efforts.
During their assignment, the crew completed essential fireline preparation, including brushing access roads, dropping hazard trees, and prepping a prescribed burn unit to reduce future wildfire risk. In addition to their operational duties, the crew participated in advanced saw training, strengthening their firefighting capabilities and working toward saw card certification — a vital credential in wildland firefighting.
Throughout the assignment, Inyo Crew 4 remained Initial Attack (IA) ready, standing by to respond immediately to any new wildfire starts in the region. Their preparedness and dedication reflect the high standards of training provided through the AVC Wildland Fire Academy.
“The Marauders continue to prove they’re a reliable, skilled, and mission-ready team,” said Lori Gilroy, Director of the AVC Wildland Fire Academy. “They represented Antelope Valley College and our community with pride and professionalism.”
The AVC Wildland Fire Program prepares students for careers in wildland fire management through rigorous physical training, hands-on experience, and classroom instruction. Graduates are highly sought after by federal, state, and local fire agencies.
