
Program Acceptance Criteria
An applicant must meet the following requirements to be eligible for the STEM Pathway Program:
- Major in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) field that includes Math 128 or 150 (or higher) or Chemistry 101 (or higher) or Biology 101 as part of preparation for transfer
- Are currently at or above Math 115
- Enroll in Math 001 Modular Dev. Math course if needed
- Have and maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.8
- Agree to participate in required project activities
- Attend SI session where applicable
- Follow education plan
- Enroll full time and continuously to degree completion at AVC
- Stay connected to other STEM pathway students
Participants in the STEM Program are expected to:
- Complete 10 hours per term of community building through the STEM Study Center in the form of academic support via drop-in tutoring services, peer mentoring, club meetings and/or Academic Excellence Workshops
- Obtain counseling and academic course planning once per term
- Participate in one Career preview or professional development opportunities, guest speaker presentations, internships or undergraduate research project per year.
