Student Development: Student Clubs & Organizations

All registered students are eligible for membership in the clubs and organizations of their choice. Students are encouraged to form additional clubs and organizations to meet special needs or interests.  All new clubs and organizations are a part of the Inter-Club Council (ICC) after approval from the Board of Trustees.  Having a minimum of 10 students, faculty advisor and completing the necessary paperwork is all that is needed to begin.  The Student Development Office, located in the HUB assists all clubs in processing paperwork and maintaining all the club's financial records and banking needs.

Active Clubs, Fall 2024

  • A2MEND Club

    • Advisors:  Devin Mosley, devin.mosley@avc.edu

    • Meetings: Monthly on Thursday's at 3:30p.m in HUB - Umoja Village 

    • Club Focus:  To promote the enhancement of enrollment, success, empowerment, leadership, networking, professionalism, and graduation of individuals among African American, Latino, and other male students at Antelope Valley College. 

  • Alpha Iota, Honors Society

  • Anthropology Club

    • Advisors:  Dr. Darcy Wiewall, darcy.wiewall@avc.edu

    • Meetings: Weekly on Friday's at 2:00p.m in UH - 223

    • Club Focus:  To provide students of all academic backgrounds and fields of study the opportunity to explore the discipline of anthropology in all its facets:  archaeological, cultural, biological, and linguistic.  Thereby, sponsoring original research opportunities, open lectures, forums, and activities related to the discipline.

  • AVC Cheer

    • Advisors:  Heidi WIlliams, heidi.williams@avc.edu

    • Meetings: Weekly on Monday's & Thursday's at 7:00p.m and Friday's at 5:00p.m at the North Athletic Field

    • Club Focus:  To develop leadership skills through support and enthusiasm for AVC sports teams.

  • AVC Society of Women Engineers

    • Advisors:  Ellen McIsaac, ellen.mcisaac@avc.edu

    • Meetings: Weekly on Friday's at 4:00p.m in UH - 253

    • Club Focus:  To empower and support women in the STEM field. It encourages a community that promotes diversity, inclusion, and excellence in STEM through networking, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.

  • CNSA

    • Advisor:  Mary Jacobs, mary.jacobs@avc.edu

    • Meetings: Twice a month on Saturday's at 9:00a.m in UH - 205 and via Zoom (meeting times may vary depending on student schedules)

    • Club Focus:  To create an atmosphere of professional behavior and foster the transition from student to professional nursing through leadership, activism, and advocacy.

  • Deaf Studies Association

    • Meetings: Monthly on Friday's at 5:00p.m in T-400B 

    • Club Focus:  A place to welcome all new or beginning students interested in expanding their awareness of Deaf Culture. 

  • Film Production

    • Club Focus:  To bring together aspiring filmmakers by making connections both personal and professional to help with members careers.

  • Gamer Club

    • Club Focus:  To promote awareness of E-sports and create a welcoming environment for casual, competitive gaming.

  • MENA (Middle Eastern and North African)

    • Club Focus:  To celebrate Middle Eastern, Southwest Asian, and North African countries while providing students with support and space. 

  • Photo Club

    • Meetings: Weekly on Wednesday's at 12:00p.m in YH - 210B

    • Club Focus:  To establish a connection between local photographers.

  • Psychology Student Organization

    • Advisor:  Fredy Aviles, fredy.aviles@avc.edu

    • Meetings: Weekly on Thursday's at 5:30p.m in MH - 248

    • Club Focus:  We, as students of Antelope Valley College, in order to support the academic pursuits of its members, facilitate psychology-related activities and promote the learning of psychology.

  • Queer Pride Club

    • Advisor:  Dr. Greg Langner, greg.langner@avc.edu

    • Meetings: Bi-weekly on Tuesday's at 12:30p.m at the AVC Pride Center in the HUB

    • Club Focus:  To create a friendly and safe environment for people of the LGBTQIA2S+ community and allies alike through social support and inclusivity. We discuss relevant LGBTQIA2S+ topics, have fun meeting new people, and facilitate activities as well as fundraisers to continue to support our students. All are accepted and welcome!         

  •  Rotaract

    • Meetings: Bi-weekly on Thursday's at 2:00p.m in LH - 100

    • Club Focus:  For young adults to take action through community and international service, learn leadership skills, participate in professional development, and embrace cultural diversity and gain global perspective.   

  • Veterans Club

    • Advisor:  Greg Bormann, gregory.boremann@avc.edu

    • Meetings: Twice a month on Friday's at 2:00p.m in SSV - Veterans Resource Center 

    • Club Focus:  To provide social groups to help veterans adjust to and become successful in civilian and college life; to bridge the gap amongst veterans and students at AVC.

  • Welding Club

    • Club Focus: To create a strong community of students interested in further developing hands-on experience while promoting creativity and innovation.
