Fresh Success Program

Earn CalFresh Benefits as a Full-Time Student Through Basic Needs Fresh Success Program

Fresh Success

At the Basic Needs Center, we are dedicated to helping students access vital resources that support their success. Through programs like Fresh Success, we connect students to benefits such as CalFresh, allowing them to focus on their education without the added stress of meeting work requirements. Our goal is to ensure every student has the support they need to thrive academically and meet their basic needs.

Fresh Success Program

Fresh Success is a California State program designed to support students receiving CalFresh benefits. Through this program, eligible full-time students can meet the CalFresh work requirements by counting their full-time units instead of the 20-hour work week requirement.

Fresh Success Eligibility

To qualify for Fresh Success support, students must:

  • must be enrolled in courses
  • must be receiving CalFresh benefits

If you are not yet receiving CalFresh benefits, you can apply online here: https://benefitscal.com/

For assistance with completing the CalFresh application, you can work with our partner: Antelope Valley Partners for Health. They can be reached by email at: calfresh@avph.org

How to Apply for Fresh Success

To apply for the Fresh Success program all students must complete the Fresh Success All-In-One Application; after completing the form students can then send it to basicneeds@avc.edu (email to be updated if Fresh Success email is approved). By submitting this document our team members will be able to review the student's eligibility and will reach out in order to make a Fresh Success appointment.
